Online & face to face sessions
Stacey Staples
Hi! 👋 Thank you for taking the time to look at my website.
I am a BABCP Accredited CBT therapist with over 12 years' experience helping people to understand and improve their mental health and wellbeing. I believe that mental health is something we all have. Our mental health is dynamic. It fluctuates on a scale of 'healthiness' (much like our bodies) at different times in our lives depending on the circumstances we are experiencing, and the tools we have to navigate them.
As a therapist my goal is to support you to find ways to relieve your distress and find new ways to manage when life gets challenging. I have spent most of my career working within the NHS; you can still find me there now. I am a CBT therapist, and team leader in a local NHS Talking Therapies Service. I have been leading a team of therapists since 2021. I am passionate about mental wellbeing and the importance of being able to access support in a timely manner. I feel privileged to remain part of the NHS. However increasing demands mean it is not always easy to get the help you need quickly.
When I'm not in the therapy room you can find me enjoying a sunny stroll with my trusty four- legged friend.

CBT
Cognitive behavioural therapy is an evidenced based approach. CBT helps us to understand the links between our thinking (the way we perceive and make sense of our experience, and things around us), our emotional reactions to these experiences and perceptions, and how we respond to them (our behaviours).
We can unintentionally develop unhelpful thinking and behavioural patterns which keep us stuck. CBT aims to help us to understand what these patterns are, how experiences in your life may have shaped them, and explore new healthier patterns.
CBT can help with the following conditions:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Post-Natal Depression
- Stress
- Panic
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Social Anxiety
I have a special interest in maternal mental health. The process of conception, pregnancy, birth, and post pregnancy can bring about times of joy, but also times of difficulty. This can be an isolating time and I believe having a safe space to talk through this is important in supporting you to move forwards. I have also completed additional training to adapt CBT treatment for people with long term health conditions such as Chronic pain, IBS, Diabetes. To keep my skills and knowledge up to date I attend annual CBT professional development events.
Sessions + Info
I offer remote CBT sessions via various video platforms and face to face sessions at Kalm Space, Poole. On occasion we may agree to telephone sessions as an alternative. Currently I am able to offer appointments on Monday & Wednesday evenings and Friday daytime.
I offer an initial consultation free of charge. This is a 30-minute telephone or video call during which time you can share a brief outline of your difficulties and your hopes for our sessions. It will also provide you the opportunity to meet me and check that I feel like the right fit for you.
In addition to therapy sessions, I also offer CBT supervision. Supervision fees are £75 for 60 minutes or £100 for 90 minutes.

FAQ's
-
The easiest way to book an initial consultation is to email info.thetherapyroom@gmail.com. Please include some brief information about what you are looking for help with. From there we can arrange a phone call or email you to set up your appointment depending on your preference. Emails are responded to within 1-2 working days.
-
The initial consultations are arranged quickly in order to give you the peace of mind that you are in the right place, or support you towards alternative help. The wait for CBT sessions varies depending on your availability, frequency of appointments, and whether there is anyone else on the waiting list. An estimated wait time will be discussed at your initial consultation.
-
After the first few therapy sessions I will be in a position to estimate and discuss with you the number of sessions required to address your difficulties – this could be anywhere between 8 and 20 sessions, depending upon the nature of your difficulties. If you wish to set a specific number of sessions yourself, we will discuss this and collaborate to work out the level of work we could achieve in that timescale.
